Let’s face it, Load-shedding occurs at the worst times. Ready to sit back after a lengthy day at the office, you grab a glass of wine and sit down to revel in your favourite tv show when... darkness.

You forgot about the Load-Shedding that was scheduled! What do you do now??

It’s extremely frustrating but there is a bright side to load shedding, pardon the pun.

Eskom’s power outages is the perfect excuse to sit down and unwind. We live in an age when technology effects just about every aspect of our lives, the frequent power cuts forces us to take a step back and take a much-needed break.
Since the power cuts started in Langebaan, I’ve had to fill my time with a variety of activities.

These include going to the beach, or catching up on reading or even worse... lighting up a braai and relaxing under a sky full of stars. I know, having no electricity is terrible!

Here are a few things to do when the lights go out:

Catch up on some reading
Dust off the Monopoly Board
Have a braai (if the weather permits)
Play Charades with the family
Star-gazing with a mug of hot chocolate in hand!
Walk or take a bike ride around Langebaan to take in some of the most sensational views in Cape Town.

Although load shedding is not optimal, try not to forgot that we live in one of the most magnificent area in Cape Town.

I hope you enjoyed this article, and it sparked some good ideas for activities to do during Load-Shedding.
